FAQ
Anonymous AI video, answered
Short answers to what people ask before they try Stand-in. Billing and account details are in Help & Safety.
What it is
- What is Stand-in?
- Stand-in makes anonymous AI video from your own footage. You film yourself, a fictional Stand-in replaces you whole-person (face and body), and you can swap your voice in one tap. Your framing, lighting, background and real movement stay, so the result plays like a normal phone video.
- Is Stand-in an AI avatar?
- No. Avatar tools generate a talking head from a script. Stand-in edits the video you really filmed and only replaces the person in it.
- Is the person in the video real?
- No. Every Stand-in is a generated, fictional person who belongs to no one. You cannot upload or describe a real or famous person.
- Does Stand-in make a digital twin of me?
- No. Your face is never copied. Only your timing, gestures and energy carry over.
- Does it look fake?
- It is built not to. Your Stand-in keeps your framing, your lighting and your real movements. Steady, well-lit, one-person clips look best.
Posting without your face
- How do I post on TikTok without showing my face?
- Film a normal short video on your phone, upload it to Stand-in, pick a fictional Stand-in and swap your voice if you want. The person in the posted video is the Stand-in, not you. Turn on TikTok's AI-generated label when you post.
- Can I be an anonymous content creator?
- Yes. Keep one fictional Stand-in across videos so your account reads as one creator, swap your voice, and never show your real face, body or voice.
- How do I make UGC without showing my face?
- Record the product video you would normally post, swap yourself for a fictional Stand-in, optionally swap your voice, and deliver it. Brands pay for content, not faces.
- Can anyone tell it is me?
- Not from your face or body: your Stand-in is a different person. Only your timing, gestures and energy carry over.
- Do I need to label my videos as AI?
- Yes, where platforms require it. TikTok, Instagram and YouTube each have an AI-generated label; turning it on keeps your account in good standing. Stand-in never helps hide that a video is AI.
Making a video
- What do I need to film?
- One person in frame, face visible, decent light, phone held steady at arm's length. Vertical works best. Anything filmed in your camera app or another app works.
- How long can a video be?
- Up to 10 minutes on any account; each started 15 seconds uses credits.
- How long does it take?
- Usually about 10 minutes.
- Can I keep the same face on every video?
- Yes. Create your own Stand-in once and it stays the same person in every video. Ready-made Stand-ins also stay the same each time you pick them.
- What does my Stand-in wear?
- By default, what you wear in the recording. You can pick one of ten outfits instead.
- Can I use my own voice?
- Yes. Your voice stays by default. Swap it in one tap if it would give you away.
Price
- What does Stand-in cost?

- What if a video fails?
- Credit packs never expire, plan credits roll over, and a failed video gives its credits back.
- Can I cancel anytime?
- Yes, from your account.
